The City of Swan, with the support of the State and Federal Government, is planning to deliver a new community centre in Ellenbrook.

Situated at the Ellenbrook District Open Space - North, Cashman Avenue Ellenbrook.

The Hub will be a shared use building for local clubs and organisations, where complimentary programs and activities will enable a thriving and activated space for all.

Local clubs, community groups and residents from the Ellenbrook area were invited to express interest in the facility via an expression of interest process to inform the design.

A community information session held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 saw 19 of the 87 invited clubs from the Ellenbrook area attend for the presentation of spatial designs for the proposed new hub at Cashman Avenue, Ellenbrook. Following this session, local clubs and interested parties were asked to have their say on the spatial designs.

Developed plans were presented to community at an information session on Thursday June 13, 2024, we received great feedback from the community in the session, the presentation is avaliable for viewing below. The feedback survey has closed, and we want to thank everyone who participated. Your input is invaluable as we move forward with this exciting project.

Multiple storage needs

Indoor and outdoor storage is proposed adjacent to the main function area and will feature lockable divisions for secure storage


Furniture and storage needs

Table and chair stores and dedicated storage will be provided and be accessible to users who regularly book the facility.


Mobility requirements

Wide corridors have been incorporated to accommodate seniors and people with disabilities who use walking aids and mobility devises.

Facility security

The facility will be managed using an access control system, allowing access to the rooms with a swipe card timed to suit the booking arrangement.

Connectivity

Generally, Wi-Fi is not a standard feature in City buildings for public use.

Kitchen

A kitchen is proposed to service the main function space, including stainless steel furniture, domestic style oven and range.

Amenities

A tea prep area and toilets will be provided in the main community building area.

Flexible activity spaces

A flexible activity and studio space has been incorporated into the design to provide for a range of arts uses by community groups and will feature a sink area and lockable cupboard storage. Specialised equipment would need to be provided by users.

Play space

A minor play space will be incorporated next to the main function space.

Function space

The function space is planned to exceed the capacity at EDOS North Pavilion at 250 - 300m2.

Public Transport

Following the delivery of the new METRONET station in Ellenbrook, PTA may review bus routes in the area. Currently the 995 bus runs approx. 10 - 20 mins towards Morley Station.

Additional parking

Parking will be provided for the new community centre, with informal overflow parking for events.

Expressions of interest received

A total of 22 community groups have expressed interest in using the Ellenbrook Community Hub.

Ellenbrook Mens Shed involvement

The Men's Shed are a key stakeholder in the development of the facility.

The Ellenbrook Men's Shed pursue a range of creative activities such as stained glass and are affiliated with a photography group.

The group have expressed willingness to attract new members particularly young members of the community for sustained future growth.
